“This could be the church’s finest hour!” I have spent the past couple days thinking about this quote from our home pastor. What a true statement for all Christians.

The church is not a building, it is not a location, it is not a denomination, it is a group of believers. WE are the church! And that doesn’t change with any change in circumstance (including a quarantine).

I am not saying that we shouldn’t be scared or worried but we shouldn’t let that fear control our actions. We should still be reaching out to others, checking on friends and family, being encouraging on social media, and doing all things to the glory of God.

In history we see that the Christians have often provided care and support to those hurting and that should be what we continue to do at this time. I have been so encouraged by seeing Facebook posts stating that they would be happy to offer help, run errands, give food, and send letters to those that are hurting. There is a video of those Italians that have been quarantined singing from their patios as a way to bring hope to their neighbors. These acts of kindness bring tears to my eyes. As the church this is what our response should be!

Caring for others, offering help and hope even when you are worried and concerned yourself will often encourage you (as the giver) as much if not more than the receiver.

Make no mistake we will all be held accountable by our actions during this time. Our non Christian friends, family, neighbors, and others are watching our actions, words and posts. Be the light to the dark, offer hope to the hopeless and be the church!

For those churches and all those affected by this we are praying for you! We are praying for protection, direction, and wisdom in making decisions for your church family. We are so thankful for the support of others during this time and hope that we in turn can be a support as well.
